Connect an AI assistant
DoeToch works with Claude, ChatGPT, Claude Code, Cursor and other assistants that support MCP (Model Context Protocol). Once connected, you ask in plain language, and the assistant reads and manages your tasks.

Before you start
Connecting is optional. Until you connect an assistant, no assistant gets anything from DoeToch. When you connect one, you sign in to DoeToch and choose:
- What it can do
- Read, or Read and change.
- Which projects
- All projects, or Only these. It can’t see or change anything outside them. Tasks in the Inbox belong to the Inbox project.
Claude (web, desktop and mobile)
Custom connectors work on Free (one connector), Pro and Max. On Team and Enterprise, an Owner adds the connector for the whole organisation under Organization settings › Connectors.
In Claude, open Customize › Connectors and choose Add custom connector.
Enter the name DoeToch and the URL
https://app.doetoch.com/mcp. Leave the OAuth client ID and secret empty. If Claude asks how to register, choose Use Claude’s published identity.Choose Add, then Connect. DoeToch opens; sign in if needed. The page shows Claude as a verified app that returns to claude.ai.
Choose what it can do and which projects, then Allow.
In a chat, turn DoeToch on under + › Connectors.
ChatGPT
Custom connectors work through developer mode, on the web, with Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise or Edu. On a business workspace, an admin has to allow developer mode first.
Open Settings › Security and login and turn on Developer mode.
Open Plugins (Connectors in older versions) and choose +.
Enter a name (DoeToch), a short description and the MCP server URL
https://app.doetoch.com/mcp, with OAuth as authentication. If ChatGPT asks how to register, choose the Client ID Metadata Document.Create the connector. DoeToch opens and shows ChatGPT as a verified app that returns to chatgpt.com. Choose what it can do and which projects, then Allow.
In a chat, choose + › Developer mode and select DoeToch.
Claude Code
Sign in through the browser:
claude mcp add --transport http doetoch https://app.doetoch.com/mcp
Then type /mcp in Claude Code, choose doetoch and Authenticate. The browser opens DoeToch, which shows Claude Code as a verified app on this computer. Choose what it can do, then Allow.
Prefer a token? Create one as described under Cursor below, and use:
claude mcp add --transport http doetoch https://app.doetoch.com/mcp --header "Authorization: Bearer dt_…"
Cursor and other apps with a token
Open app.doetoch.com and go to Settings › Integrations › AI assistants.
Choose Create token for Claude Code, Cursor, …, give it a name and choose the access and projects.
Copy the token. It is shown only once.
Cursor: add this to ~/.cursor/mcp.json and replace dt_… with your token.
{
"mcpServers": {
"doetoch": {
"url": "https://app.doetoch.com/mcp",
"headers": { "Authorization": "Bearer dt_…" }
}
}
}
Other apps: use the server URL with the header Authorization: Bearer followed by your token. The server speaks MCP over Streamable HTTP.
What an assistant can do
These are the tools DoeToch offers. The assistant decides which ones to use.
Read
get_today- Overdue, today and your Focus list
get_upcoming- The coming days (up to 31), per day
find_tasks- Tasks that match a filter, such as
today & p1or#Work & !@waiting search- Tasks with a text in their title or description
list_projects- Your projects with their sections
list_labels- Your labels
get_task- One task in full: description, subtasks, comments and attachment names
get_completed- What you completed, newest first (personal projects)
get_activity- Recent activity, including which changes came from an assistant
Change (only with Read and change)
add_tasks- Up to 25 tasks at once, as quick-add text:
Call mum tomorrow 7pm p2 #Home update_task- Change the title, description, priority, labels or deadline
complete_task- Complete a task; a repeating task moves on to its next time
uncomplete_task- Reopen a completed task
reschedule_task- Give a new date or time, or clear the date
move_task- Move to another project or section, or under another task
add_comment- Add a comment to a task
assign_task- Assign a task to someone in a shared project
create_project- Create a project
create_section- Create a section in a project
delete_task- Move one task (with its subtasks) to the trash
restore_task- Bring a deleted task back
assign_task only appears when you share projects. There are also three ready-made prompts (plan_my_day, weekly_review and triage_inbox) and help on filters and quick add, which the assistant reads by itself.
What an assistant can’t do
- Delete projects, sections, labels or filters, or archive projects.
- Delete more than one task per request. A deleted task stays in the trash for 30 days, and
restore_taskbrings it back. - Invite people, change roles, or change your account and settings.
- Send email, create share links or export your data.
- See anything outside the projects you chose, or other people’s personal projects, labels and filters.
- Use a shared project you are a member of, unless its owner allows apps and AI assistants there (Share › Apps and AI assistants). As the owner, your own assistant always can.
- Open attachments; it only sees their names.
- Make more than 120 requests or 30 changes a minute, or more than 1,000 changes a day.
The assistant gets titles, descriptions and comments as data, not as instructions. In a shared project other people write them too, so read what an assistant proposes before you agree to it. Before deleting, and before moving a task into or out of a shared project, DoeToch tells the assistant to ask you first.
Privacy and oversight
- The tasks the assistant reads go to its provider (Anthropic for Claude, OpenAI for ChatGPT) and are handled under that provider’s terms. DoeToch itself never sends data to an AI provider.
- What an assistant changes or comments shows in the activity marked “via”, for example “Sam via Claude”. In a shared project the other members see that too.
- DoeToch stores which assistants are connected and when they were last used, and logs which tools they call, without the content of your tasks.
More in the privacy statement.
Disconnect
On app.doetoch.com: Settings › Integrations › AI assistants, then Disconnect. The assistant loses access right away; what it already changed stays. You can remove DoeToch from the assistant too, but only disconnecting in DoeToch really ends its access.
When it doesn’t work
The assistant asks to connect again
You disconnected it, it wasn’t used for 90 days, or you reset your password. Connect it again.
A token doesn’t work
Check that the header is exactly Authorization: Bearer followed by the whole token (which starts with dt_). A disconnected token stops working at once; create a new one.
The assistant can read but not change anything
The connection is read only. Disconnect it and connect again with Read and change, or create a new token with that access.
The assistant can’t find a project or task
The connection may be limited to some projects; it sees nothing outside them. Tasks in the Inbox belong to the Inbox project.
ChatGPT has no developer mode
It depends on your plan. On a business workspace an admin has to allow it first.
The assistant did something I didn’t want
Look it up in Activity and change it back in DoeToch. Or ask the assistant to undo it: uncomplete_task reopens a task and restore_task brings back a deleted one.
The assistant reports rate_limited
It asked too much in a short time. Wait a minute; the limits are listed above.
